Vision Statement This foreign Language curriculum embraces abroad spectrum of communication skills utilizing the five C’s of essential foreign language education: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Community. The standards presented offer a vision of what students should know and be able to do with other languages. In order to attain these standards, students require a foreign language program that provides rich curricular experiences. The goal of this curriculum is to develop positive attitudes and excitement toward learning the Spanish language. Through the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students are able to broaden their awareness, acceptance and understanding of the Hispanic culture. This program is designed to accommodate varying levels of language learners as they progress though the stages of the National Foreign Language Curriculum with Readiness, Foundations, and Essential objectives. Additionally, elements of the Catholic faith tradition are integrated into this Spanish curriculum in order to provide a meaningful language and cultural experience within the context of the Catholic faith. My name is Senora Wanda Hernandez. I am the Spanish teacher at St. Michael School. I was born in Puerto Rico and I have 13 years of teaching experience. During my many years of experience as a teacher, I have come to realize that you are the most important people in the education of your son/daughter. Therefore, I suggest that we work together as a team in order to provide your son/daughter with the best possible education. My mission for the classes is to work cooperatively in our class and actively practice daily to communicate in Spanish via listening, speaking, reading, and writing. During the school year, we will be using a textbook and technology in the classroom such as iPad, SmartBoard, internet, YouTube, and other websites to enhance learning.
