Assignments are given in order to insure mastery of the subject matter taught in class and to provide enrichment or practice. Parents are asked to provide a conductive study place and take time to check the written work that is to be returned to school, as well as study assignments. Children should assume more personal responsibility for class preparation as they advance to the upper grades.

Suggested maximum time allotments for homework are as follows:

• Kindergarten: 15 minutes
• Grades 1-2: 20 to 30 minutes
• Grades 3-4: 30 to 40 minutes
• Grades 5-6: 50 to 60 minutes
• Grades 7-8: 70 to 90 minutes

Such time allotments are only suggestions. Students vary, teachers vary, and subjects vary!
